Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 3 June 2026

VeriTool only works if everyone uses it honestly. This policy sits alongside our Terms.

You must not

  • Register tools you do not own or lawfully control.
  • List a tool as stolen when it has not been stolen, or knowingly include false information in a report.
  • Use the serial check or stolen register to harass, intimidate or threaten anyone.
  • Scrape, bulk-download or otherwise mass-extract data from the public register without our prior written permission.
  • Attempt to brute-force serial numbers, probe for vulnerabilities, or otherwise interfere with the service.
  • Impersonate another tradesperson, trade body, police force or insurer.
  • Upload illegal content, malware, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.

Owner-finder relay

If you make contact with an owner via VeriTool because you've seen a tool, do not approach the holder of the tool yourself — call 101 or 999. Use the relay to share useful information, not to negotiate purchase of a suspected stolen item.

Enforcement

Breaches may result in content removal, account suspension or termination, and where appropriate referral to law enforcement.
